In scouring around looking for new music, I came across with new folk singer by the name of Jake Jeanson and his CD called “Traveler”.
As soon as I started to listen to this piece of music, the realization on how simple and straight ahead the arrangements were. You can hear the honesty in the lyrics and the fun he is having sharing his music with you. In the today’s world, it is a great thing to hear the fingers actually moving up and down the strings of his guitar.
In going with the theme, “Traveler”, Jake Jeanson take us to find his “London Love”, travels to New Orleans in a salute to the Bayou Man in “Blue Bayou” and through memories in “Best Bet”.
Jake Jeanson has some fun with us in giving us a reggae beat in “Name Tag” and the energetic closing track, “Little Bit of Voodoo”.
Jake Jenson has surrounded himself with an excellent support cast that does not attempt to take away or overwhelm any of the songs given here. These pieces of music ought to present Jake Jeanson to a much larger audience outside of his native Santa Barbara, California. Each person will discover the same as I did as I wrote this review. This collection is toe tapping good old fun.
