This reviewer has fun searching around for new music or new types of music that I have not really paid attention too. While scanning one of my favourite sites in an attempt to discover something that he had never really heard before, the music of Larry “The Wizard” Sievers was found. This artist labels himself as a heavy metal keyboardist, so the time was taken to listen to his recording of “Captain Lord Wizard”.
First and foremost it has to be recognized that this artist was an amateur that did not want to make a career of his recordings and that he was sharing them with us for sheer entertainment. It is felt that Larry “The Wizard” Sievers uses this medium to gain release from his own world and the frustrations that it can create.
Throughout the whole recording you can feel that what has been created here in this land of keyboards is a little more in the direction of dance music with a futuristic feel. The computer generated drum beat adds to this assumption. The tracks, “Captain Lord Wizard” and “Kingdoms of Glory” really are connected on this level. There are times you can hear where the artist is attempting to slow down the pace and add suspense to this collection in “Messenger Meets The Oracle” and “Sorceress of Mystical Design”.
On “Captain Lord Wizard”, Larry “The Wizard” Sievers falls victim to his own creativity. The playing has a mind of its own at times in compared to the beats given to him. There are some songs he is playing catch up or overplaying, “Sword Play” and Rouges Gallery”.
What this reviewer did keep in mind through all of this was that the music that is given to us is filled with potential for future releases in this genre. Also, the fact that where this music was found, Larry “The Wizard” Sievers is letting us share it with others for free. With that in mind, go and listen to this and other releases that exist for this artist.
