The world of spoken word poetry is ever expanding in today’s art. The recording of the words presented by these artists is becoming an increasingly popular avenue for the audience to enjoy these artists worldwide. Now with that in mind, we are going to take a journey in discovering such an artist as this reviewer presents to you, ““A Lyfe In The Lyrical” by Lyrical Movements (Monique Forrester).
In the beginning, Lyrical Movements asks us to feel this collection and through many pieces we do. Her powerful voice comes through with passion in the selections “No More You”, “Off The Shelf” and “In Flight” and pulls you in to these places.
In “A Lyfe In The Lyrical” by Lyrical Movements there is a versatile talent shown to us. There are various subjects taken on such as the dark, horror in “Catching Bad Dream”, painful memories in “Daddy Never Cared”, life’s altering situation in “Inside Blues", the tales of a teenage mother in “He Loves Me” and the tour de force of today’s world in “Plantation Island”. Each poem delivered to us has an important message that cannot be denied and should not be.
Lyrical Movement does let us in on her tender side with such compositions as “Broken Memories” and “Kissing You”. Each one having a painful side that we can all relate too.
It has to be mentioned that there is a mix of music with each and every recited piece of poetry as a backdrop. This, to the listener, only enhances the listening experience as it compliments the mood of the presentation of these pieces.
The compilation given to us by Lyrical Movement is a must have for those that appreciate excellently delivered spoken word poetry and for those that have not fully discovered this art form, “A Lyfe In The Lyrical” is the place to start.
