Today’s rap stars are suppose to be tough on the exterior and interior with any sensitively hidden or this is the stereotype. In this , From The Collection, this reviewer presents to you a rapper that was not afraid to show his tender side with a CD from Everlast called “White Trash Beautiful” that makes us realize that the stereotype has not been earned at all.

“White Trash Beautiful” was released in 2004 and clearly demonstrated Everlast’s full ascension into the folk/rap genre of music. All through this CD, Everlast reveals more and more of himself in a way other writers do not.

Everlast takes us on an honest journey with him. He gives you the feeling that his heart has been truly broken during the recording of this CD. This is truly evident on the tracks of loss or regret that he gives us. In the “Lonely Road”, he reflects on the mistakes he has made in life. “Sleepin’ Alone” has Everlast full of the regret that defines a lot of the songs on this CD as he admits to us and himself as to why an ex love has asked him to leave. To continue this romantic, reflective road Everlast is taking us on, “Broken” is a beautiful dedication to the lady in his life, where as “This Kind of Lonely” has him pining for her as nothing in his life feels right.

There are tales to tell us lessons to what he and others have seen or experienced in this world with, “Blinded By The Sun”, The Warning” and “Pieces of Drama”. These serve as a warning to us as well as giving us a look into the masterful storytelling skills Everlast has built. Everlast pays tribute to ladies that have perseverance in times of loss in “White Trash Beautiful” and “Sad Girl”.

Now with all of this gentleness that we have been given, Everlast’s edge has not been taken away as he shares his past life and bravado in “Soul Music”, “God Wanna” and “Ticking Away”. These are parts of his life that let us understand why he is where he is now and what got him there.

Through every step of this piece of music, the range of emotions are those felt by many of us in one way or another and is highly recommended for anyone as the music transcends musical tastes.
