Wedding dress on a budget, A wedding to remember

So, my sister’s finally done it, she’s got hitched with the guy she’s been with for seven years and I couldn’t be more happy for her. I’m even happier that after trying on dress, after dress, after dress and attending more wedding shows that I can count on both hands, she finally was able to find the dress of her dreams.

We both know how expensive weddings can be, with the catering, the venue, and the invitations and not forgetting the dressing up part, sometimes I wonder how people can do it more than once. I’ve been to a few weddings, but my sister’s wedding has been the only one that has really stood out. The ceremony was in a lovely classic registry office, just the way our parents had done it. In fact, my sister’s wedding inspiration came from our parents wedding, both December weddings, both vintage and both affordable... just a way of saying that you don’t have to spend so much money to prove you’re in love.

My sister has always wanted to wear a vintage lace dress; the idea came from our mums wedding dress. It was the colour of ivory, lace with a zig-zag cut at the bottom and a delicate satin bow. My mum was pleased when she saw that my sister had found a dress that looked quite similar to her own, the only difference was that it was slightly more modern, but still had a vintage touch.

And can you believe this dress cost £67.00 from EBay? My favourite part of my sister’s dress is the backless effect with the halter neck satin ribbon, this is what brings this vintage number to the 21st century. And not forgetting the “something blue”, the vibrant blue shoes from Next also came from EBay and cost... wait for it... £5.00. Talk about cheap but classy.
